17 Indian Soldiers Killed in Kashmir

Armed militants stormed an Indian military base in its Kashmir region on Sunday, killed 17 soldiers. The area is near the country’s border with Pakistan, which Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh apparently blamed for the attack. “I am deeply disappointed with Pakistan’s continued and direct support to terrorism and terrorist groups,” he tweeted. Four of the attackers, who were armed with assault rifles and explosives, were killed during the clashes. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter that those responsible for the attack “will not go unpunished.”
