Eighteen members of Congress sent a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee Tuesday nominating President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for “his work to end to the Korean War [sic], denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, and bring peace to the region.” The letter cited Trump’s work in bringing the “international community” together to “impose one of the most successful international sanctions regimes in history.” “The sanctions have decimated the North Korean economy and have been largely credited for bringing North Korea to the negotiating table,” the letter says. It also notes that South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Trump should win the prize. Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) are among the 18 lawmakers who signed the letter.
