A bomb blast tore through a funeral in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday, killing at least 18 and injuring 13 others, according to Agence France-Presse. Authorities initially described the attack as a suicide bombing but later said they believed it was caused by explosives attached to a motorcycle. The attack happened at the funeral of a former district governor in the city of Jalalabad. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing, which came just three days after another suicide attack killed 41 people at a Shi’ite cultural center in Kabul. The country continues to be plagued by terror attacks on civilians despite a campaign against the Taliban and ISIS backed by U.S. air strikes.
