Penn State is under attack. The information of some 18,000 individuals and 500 organizations was potentially exposed in a series of cyberattacks since September 2012, though Provost Nick Jones said the university wasn’t aware of the problem until the FBI notified it in November 2014. To keep the hackers at bay, the school has chosen to take its computer system off the Internet. Authorities say they believe the attacks originate in China, but are unsure if it is the Chinese government or individuals within the country.
