Two Chicago police officers were injured Sunday when an unknown assailant tossed a firecracker at their squad car, police say. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. in the South Shore area on the South Side, when a vehicle pulled up alongside the officers before throwing the firecracker. The officers suffered minor injuries and were transported to a hospital. There has been no word on the suspect in the attack, nor whether anyone has been detained.
