Buddy-cops movies are definitely ruling the summer 2013 box office. The buddy-cop action film 2 Guns ruled the domestic weekend box office, bringing in $27.4 million over three days, despite having a Rotten Tomatoes score of 12 percent. Smurfs 2, the live-action/animation 3-D hybrid sequel, bombed in its opening weekend, bringing in $18.2 million domestically, although its international numbers were a bit brighter—and the original made 75 percent of its money overseas. The Wolverine dropped 59 percent from last weekend, but still managed to bring in $21.7 million for the weekend and came in second, with Smurfs 2 in third and The Conjuring in fourth with $13.6 million. Despicable Me 2 still drew in huge audiences, coming in fifth with $10.3 million for an overall gross of $713.7 million.
