As many as 20 teenage students were killed Sunday after trees fell on them while they were swimming at a popular waterfall in Ghana. The teenagers were swimming at the Kintampo waterfalls, Ghana National Fire Service spokesman Prince Billy Anaglate said, calling the accident “unusual” and likely caused by a storm. “They were swimming in the river when there was a storm, a windy atmosphere that had uprooted some of the trees, and they had fallen on some of them—those who were apparently swimming,” Anaglate added. Eighteen died at the scene, while an additional two people died at the hospital.
