At least 20 people were killed by electrocution after a power line struck a Carnival parade in Haiti. The victims were crowded onto a float that was part of Port-au-Prince’s festivities. People at the parade told the AP that a power line was moved by someone with a pole or stick to allow for the float to pass beneath it as thousands of people crowded the streets. While some victims were reportedly killed instantly, others jumped off, but that sparked chaos among Carnival celebrants. “I saw the wire falling and sparks and I started running for my life,” Natacha Saint Fleur told the AP.
