Israelis staged large-scale demonstrations on Saturday to protest the rising costs of living. At least 200,000 people took to the streets in Tel Aviv; 30,000 participated in Jerusalem. This is the third Saturday in a row that such protests have taken place. According to reports, most of those involved were middle-class professionals who can no longer afford basic expenses. One of the organizers called it “a revolution.” He said, “There has been nothing like this for decades—all these people coming together, taking to the streets, demanding change.” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will reexamine his priorities and make housing more affordable.
