Aaron Paul and Neil Patrick Harris, saving the day by stepping in for planned co-host Kate Mara (House of Cards), who was stuck on a plane, woke up bright and early to announce the 2013 Emmy Award nominees Thursday morning. “Special thanks to Kate Mara for getting me up and out of the house before my children wake up and start crying,” Harris quipped. Both announcers ended up earnings nods (Paul in Supporting Actor for Breaking Bad; Harris for producing and hosting the Tony Awards, but not his supporting role in How I Met Your Mother), joining contenders from Downton Abbey, Girls, Modern Family, and more.
