Is this the end of Jack Bauer? With ratings down 34 percent from last year, Fox has announced that the current season of 24 will be its last, after eight seasons on the air. "Everyone concurs that we want the show to close in as peak form as possible," said the show’s executive producer Howard Gordon. “If they said tomorrow that you have a ninth season, it's not something we'd be up for because we realize Jack's story in the real-time format has been told.” Loyal fans may be in luck though: There’s already talk of a movie in the works. “Jack is a wonderful character who can live past the 24 real-time franchise,” said Gordon, and the show’s star Kiefer Sutherland added, “We’re very excited about going into the film world with this.”
