A young journalist covering the Super Bowl tragically died this week in New Orleans, his station announced. Sports reporter Adan Manzano, 27, died on Wednesday, reports People, though the details of his death remain unclear. Manzano, of Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports, was widowed in April when his wife, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd, was killed in a car crash. They leave behind a now-orphaned toddler, Eleanor. Manzano was recognized by his colleagues for his excellence, having been sent to cover the Super Bowl for three straight years in a row. Telemundo KC responded to the tragic loss, saying, “Adan was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work. We will deeply miss Adan, his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community.” Manzano, originally from Mexico City, said he was proud to bring Spanish language coverage “to the Spanish community” saying he thought there was room for football to “be the favorite sport” of Latinos.
