281 Killed in CAR Violence

ETHNIC TENSIONS

France to intervene in the conflict.

281 people have been killed over two days of violent crashes in the Central African Republic, according to the Red Cross. The organization’s president in CAR, Pastor Antoine Mbao Bogo said that while his staff had to stop working Friday night, he expects the death toll to continue to rise over the weekend. Meanwhile, France has decided to double its forces in CAR, from 600 to 1,200 troops on the ground, in an attempt to quell ethnic violence sparked by conflict between the mostly-Muslim rebels in power and the majority Christian opposition groups.
