Three Franciscan friars surrended to authorities to face charges that they allegedly allowed a known sexual predator to hold a job in which he molested more than 100 children in Pennsylvania. The friars—Robert D’Aversa, Anthony Criscitelli, and Giles Schinelli—were arraigned Friday, and set free on bond until an April hearing on third-degree felony child-endangerment and conspiracy charges. Schinelli assigned Brother Stephen Baker to Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, prosecutors said; and the other two are allegedly complicit because they allowed Baker access to the school and its students, despite having knowledge of his previous crimes. Baker was accused of molesting students between 1992 and 2000. Ohio church officials announced in 2013 that Baker was suspected of molesting students at another school in the 1980s, and he killed himself shortly afterward. Alleged victims from the school came forward after those events.
