Heavy rain triggered flooding and landslides in the Japanese city of Hiroshima, leaving at least 32 people confirmed dead and nine missing. One child, a 2-year-old boy, was pronounced dead after being buried alive for two hours in a mudslide. There were at least 20 reports of people being buried alive or washed away in flooding. A firefighter was killed during rescue operations when caught in a landslide. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe warned that the city could be hit by heavy rain again, which could trigger even more landslides.
