Hundreds of inmates escaped a prison in the Afghan central city of Ghazni on Monday after Taliban militants attacked the facility and killed at least four policemen. The attack began when a militant blew himself up at the prison gates to allow others to enter and help free more than 350 prisoners, according to the deputy provincial governor. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the raid and confirmed that three of the attackers were killed. Seven police officers were injured in the clash and only 80 prisoners remained inside the prison, the deputy governor added. Most of the inmates were Taliban, Ahmadi added. It was not immediately clear who escaped.
