39K Verizon Workers Go on Strike

About 39,000 landline and cable workers at Verizon have gone on strike in the Northeast amid a contract dispute with the company. Many have worked without a contract since August 2015 and say the telecom giant is trying to make layoffs easier and rely more on contract workers. The striking workers are members of the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
