The quake was centered near Balilihan, around 390 miles from the capital of Manila, and reached a depth of 35 miles. There was no threat of a subsequent tsunami, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, but such large earthquakes can sometimes trigger tsunamis within 61 miles.
