40 Murdered at Afghan Wedding

Terror

Tween suicide bomber targets anti-Taliban town.

A pre-teen suicide bomber took at least 40 lives when he blew himself up at the wedding party he was attending in Afghanistan. About 74 others were injured, including the groom. Afghan wedding parties traditionally segregate the sexes; the bomber attacked the men’s party during dinner, sparing the women. The wedding was in Nadahan village, an anti-Taliban area in the Taliban’s home turf, Kandahar province, and the family targeted included several police officers. The Taliban often targets those they see as collaborating with occupiers—a 7-year-old-boy was hanged Wednesday for spying—but its spokesman denied any involvement, claiming the culprit was an American airstrike (NATO says there no service members were involved).
