The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said on Sunday at least 45 civilians —including 10 children and four women— were killed during airstrikes in a Syrian rebel stronghold east of Damascus. It was unclear if the strikes were carried out by Syrian or Russian warplanes, but the rockets landed on the towns of Douma, Harasta, Saqba and Arbin in the country's eastern region. Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said one of the rockets landed near a school and killed the school's principal.
