The East Coast was preparing Friday for the massive winter snowstorm set to fall on about 75 million people. As of early Friday, airlines had canceled at least 4,500 flights in anticipation of trouble at multiple major airports in the storm’s path. Meteorologists are predicting as much as 32 inches of snow in Washington, D.C., which would beat the capital’s all-time record of 28 inches in 1922. That storm killed 100 people. States of emergency have been called in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia.
