Mitt Romney is probably thanking David Corn in a different way. The Mother Jones Washington bureau chief was awarded Monday the George Polk Award for political reporting for exposing Romney’s infamous remarks at a fundraiser about “47 percent” of Americans who receive entitlements. When the video went public in September, Romney had a difficult time recovering. Other winners of the Polk Awards included foreign-reporting awards for The New York Times’s David Barboza and the staff of Bloomberg News for stories on China; McClatchy Newspapers was honored for its coverage of the Syrian conflict; and John Hechinger and Janet Lorin of Bloomberg News won the national-reporting award.
