A small plane crashed in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Saturday morning, killing five people—including WDSU sports reporter Carley McCord, who was on her way to Atlanta to see her father-in-law help coach Louisiana State University’s football team in the Peach Bowl. According to KATC-TV, the Piper aircraft hit a power line while trying to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from Lafayette airport. It plunged into the parking lot of a post office, near a Walmart that was evacuated. There was only one survivor, and three people on the ground were hurt.
