6.0 Quake Hits Off Bali Coast

Bali, the popular Indonesian resort island, was rattled by a large earthquake that hit about 60 miles southwest of the island Thursday afternoon. An early seismic reading estimated it was a 6.0-magnitude earthquake, and was located about 36 miles below the ocean floor. Early reports said at least 50 people were injured, many with broken bones and head wounds. No tsunami warning has been issued yet. Some roofs collapsed in the quake, and media outlets reported that several buildings had cracks in them. Indonesia straddles a series of fault lines that make it one of the world's biggest earthquake hotspots.
