At least 13 people were killed and 175 injured late Tuesday when a 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit a popular tourist area of China. The quake hit Jiuzhaigou County in the southwestern Sichuan Province, near a nature reserve frequented by travelers. Authorities said dozens of people were trapped by a landslide, and six of those killed in the quake were identified as tourists. Photos from the scene showed extensive damage, with what appeared to be chunks of buildings scattered throughout a road. Rescuers were still working to locate more victims beneath the rubble early Wednesday when another earthquake struck a remote area in northwest China, though no injuries were reported in the 6.6-magnitude quake.
