Nine people were wounded late Saturday, including six children, when a man went on a stabbing spree at a child’s birthday party in an apartment complex housing refugee families in Boise, Idaho. Police said late Sunday that the suspect, 30-year-old Timmy Kinner, had apparently targeted a 3-year-old girl’s birthday party at the Wylie Lane Apartments complex after being thrown out of an acquaintance’s home in the building last week. The birthday girl was among those injured, along with five other children aged four to 12. Three adults who tried to protect the children were also seriously hurt. Four of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. “This incident is not a representation of our community but a single evil individual who attacked people without provocation that we are aware of at this time,” Boise Police Chief William Bones said at a press conference. Kinner faces nine charges of aggravated battery and six charges of injury to a child.
