Actress Yael Stone alleged actor Geoffrey Rush subjected her to unwanted sexual advances and even attempted to look at her naked body while she was showering. Stone told The New York Times that she had looked up to Rush, a revered actor in Australia, and was elated when she was cast opposite him in a play called The Diary of a Madman in 2010 and 2011. After they got acquainted with one another, Stone told the newspaper Rush would send her “affectionate and flirtatious” texts late at night that were sexual at times. Stone reportedly bantered back despite feeling “discomfort.” Stone also claimed Rush would display odd behavior in their shared dressing room, like dancing around completely naked. After a show one evening, Stone recounted that she and Rush were showering when she noticed a “small shaving mirror over the top of the partition between the showers.” Stone claims he was using the mirror to look at her body while she was showering. In a statement, Rush told the newspaper that Stone’s allegations were “incorrect” and “in some instances… completely out of context.” He attributed his behavior around Stone to his “spirited enthusiasm,” and said he “deeply regret” if he caused her “distress.”
