Adam LaRoche retired from professional baseball because the Chicago White Sox organization took issue with how much time his 14-year-old son spent in the clubhouse, Fox Sports reported Thursday. The star first-baseman walked away from a $16 million contract, Fox’s Ken Rosenthal said, because Team President “Ken Williams told him that he no longer could bring 14-year-old son [Drake] into clubhouse.” The team’s handling of the situation irked LaRoche’s teammates so much they allegedly considered boycotting Wednesday’s spring-training game.
