Adam LaRoche Retired Because White Sox Took Issue With His Son

Adam LaRoche retired from professional baseball because the Chicago White Sox organization took issue with how much time his 14-year-old son spent in the clubhouse, Fox Sports reported Thursday. The star first-baseman walked away from a $16 million contract, Fox’s Ken Rosenthal said, because Team President “Ken Williams told him that he no longer could bring 14-year-old son [Drake] into clubhouse.” The team’s handling of the situation irked LaRoche’s teammates so much they allegedly considered boycotting Wednesday’s spring-training game.
