National Security Adviser Jim Jones needs to do some serious work on his comedic skills: After making an anti-Semitic joke in a speech at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Jones has been slammed by the Anti-Defamation League and forced to apologize. “I wish that I had not made this off-the-cuff joke at the top of my remarks, I apologize to anyone who was offended by it,” said Jones, adding, “The United States commitment to Israel’s security is sacrosanct.” The adviser reportedly began his speech with a remark about a Jewish merchant attempting to sell a tie to a member of the Taliban. Robert Gibbs declined to address the issue further at Monday’s White House briefing, and said, “The apology rightly speaks for itself.”
