Could begin just six months from now.

The accuracy and timing of the report on Afghanistan’s $1 trillion mineral resources may already be called into question, but Afghanistan won’t let that rain on its parade: Bidding for rights to explore the mineral reserves could begin just six months from now, according to a spokesman for the Mines Ministry. He said that it would probably be five to 10 years before mining actually begins, especially because many of the mines are in politically unstable areas, and many U.S. geological experts think it could take even longer.
