Donald Trump is reportedly considering the removal of security clearances from more officials—including a serving Justice Department employee—following the rescinding of former CIA Director John Brennan's clearance. Trump believes that move made him look “strong and decisive,” according to The Washington Post. The newspaper cites two unnamed White House officials saying Trump is lining up more clearance removals from people who have criticized him or played a role in the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign. Aides are reportedly “scrambling” to review the list of people Trump says he would like to strip of clearances, including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. “The process is essentially meaningless,” one White House aide told the newspaper. “If Trump wants to do it, he’ll just do it.”
