It's the proposal everyone is waiting for. One of Mitt Romney's top aides, Eric Fehrnstrom, said on Monday that the presumptive Republican nominee could announce his vice-presidential pick as early as this week. Much of the speculation is circulating around Tim Pawlenty. That’s because while Romney has mostly stayed away from his vanquished primary opponents, he has consistently sought out the advice of the former two-term Minnesota governor. Pawlenty, in turn, has become something of a “traveling salesman” for the campaign, defending Romney with far more vigor than many on the right. There haven’t yet been any credible leaks about whom Romney will pick, but Pawlenty and Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio are considered to be the leading contenders.
