Police in Athens, Alabama, say a high school student and football player has been hospitalized after being stabbed, and one of the teenager’s fellow athletes has been taken into custody in the incident. Police say the injured student is 18-year-old senior Tarik Malone, a running back on the football team. They said the suspect is a 16-year-old junior who also is a football player. The victim suffered stab wounds to his right side, near his abdomen, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The incident happened at the school’s athletic field house, and the suspect has been charged with assault.
