A federal judge has ordered Alabama to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Judge Callie V.S. Granade’s ruling forces Mobile County probate Judge Don Davis to stop denying licenses to gay couples. Although Granade’s ruling specifically cites Davis, it is expected to have a statewide effect. Granade ruled three weeks ago that Alabama’s ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional.
