Alexander Wang to design for Gap

COLLABORATIONS

Following in the footsteps of more seasoned veterans like Thakoon, Phillip Lim, and Rodarte, relative newcomer Alexander Wang is going mass—for the summer, at least. Gap’s Design Editions initiative, which commissions fashion superstars to create lines of affordable basics (Phillip Lim recreated the classic white blouse in a number of styles for the masses last year), has signed Wang, Albertus Swanepoel and Vena Cava to design the latest collection, which launches June 16. “Being an American designer, I am always coming back to the classics,” Wang said, "so it was a great honor to collaborate with Gap because it's iconic to American culture. Not to mention, home of khakis and the white tee.”
