In 1970, Helmut Newton's wife, June, began a career as a commercial photographer under the pseudonym Alice Springs. During her career, she shot several ad campaigns—including for the cigarette brand Gitane and the hairstylist Jean Louis David—and photographed numerous Hollywood stars. A retrospective of her work is currently on view at the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin. Taschen has simultaneously released a book, Alice Springs: Photographs.
