In the months before allegedly killing Chris Kyle, author of American Sniper, and his friend Chad Littlefield, Iraq war veteran Eddie Ray Routh had checked into a mental hospital twice. "Eddie stated he was hurting and that his family does not understand what he has been through," according to the check-in report. He also told authorities he was suffering from PTSD. Twenty-five-year-old Routh is being charged with one count of capital murder and two counts of murder for the killing of Kyle and Littlefield at a shooting range in Texas.
