Ally of Georgian PM to Be President

Exit polls show that Georgy Margvelashvili will be Georgia's next president after the election on Sunday. The former deputy premier is an ally of billionaire Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, who has said he will step aside soon. Margvelashvili is following a predecessor's 10-year-rule, and means the Georgian Dream party will be leading both the presidency and the government. He is estimated to have about 66.7 percent of votes, while his nearest rival only has around 20 percent.
