An amateur astronomer in Canada has found a missing NASA satellite called IMAGE, which had been lost in space for 12 years. Scott Tilley made the discovery, then blogged about his findings and reached out to an investigator who was at one point responsible for the satellite. NASA later confirmed the finding. IMAGE was launched in March 2000, and it was created to study the Earth’s magnetosphere. Scientists hadn’t heard from IMAGE since 2005.
