Amber Rudd has resigned as U.K.’s home secretary, a Downing Street spokesperson told the U.K. Press Association. No official reason was provided for Rudd’s resignation, but she recently faced scrutiny for the so-called Windrush scandal, wherein the Home Office destroyed landing documents for the “first large group of Caribbean migrants to arrive in the U.K. after World War II,” CNN reported. Some of the migrants, who have been residing in the U.K. for years and known as the “Windrush Generation,” reportedly face deportation because they don’t have the proper paperwork. Prime Minister Theresa May apologized to Caribbean leaders earlier this month, saying she was “genuinely sorry for any anxiety that has been caused.”
