Ambulances are being used as suicide bombs in Iraq as coalition forces step up the campaign against ISIS. The terror group has claimed responsibility for the suicide attacks that have killed 21 people in the Iraqi cities of Tikrit and Samarra. In Tikrit, a suicide bomber drove the ambulance into a long line of cars that were waiting at a checkpoint to enter the city. Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi visited Mosul, an ISIS stronghold where coalition forces launched a major offensive last month, and pledged that Iraqi soldiers “will not retreat and will not be broken.” A spokesman for the Iraqi special forces said his troops were battling in “the toughest urban warfare that any force in the world could undertake.” In addition to the threat of suicide bombs, Iraqi forces are taking heavy sniper fire from rooftops.
