American Pharaoh, ridden by Victor Espinoza, won the 141st Run for the Roses in Churchill Downs on Saturday, beating Firing Line and Dortmund by a length in 2:03.02. This is Espinoza's second Derby win in a row and his third win in total. American Pharaoh was 5-2 to win, and came from third place in the stretch to outpace Firing Line, who placed, and Dortmund, who landed in the third spot. The gorgeous thoroughbred is owned by Egyptian-American Ahmed Zayat and and was trained by Bob Baffert, who had back-to-back wins in 1997 and 1998. After the race, which carries a $2 million stake, Espinoza exclaimed, "I feel like the luckiest Mexican on earth!"
