Amtrak Resumes NYC to Philly Service

Following last week’s crash.

Amtrak service between Philadelphia and New York City resumed Monday morning, six days after a train derailed and killed eight people and injured 200 others. “Our infrastructure repairs have been made with the utmost care and emphasis on infrastructure integrity, including complete compliance with Federal Railroad Administration directives,” said Amtrak President and CEO Joe Boardman in a press release. Over the weekend, the train company announced it had installed speed controls, which force trains to slow down. The toppled train, which is believed to have been hit by an object, was going 106 mph when it entered a curve and derailed.
