Amy Klobuchar Raised More Than $5.2 Million in First Quarter of Her Campaign
CASH MONEY
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) has raised more than $5.2 million since her presidential launch, her campaign announced on Monday. They ended the quarter with $7 million cash on hand, a number that reflects a transfer of $3.5 million from her Senate campaign, according to an aide. The campaign said that Klobuchar’s average online contribution was $40, and 85 percent of all donors gave less than $100. It has been noted, however, that her fundraising invitations show her raising funds for the general election as opposed to the Democratic primary. The campaign did not immediately reveal details on contributors or overall contributions, but the tally puts her slightly ahead of her competitor and Senate colleague Cory Booker who announced a haul of around $5 million on Sunday. Both of the senators trail South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in fundraising.
