More than 200 luxury cars were set ablaze in Berlin last year as anarchists acted under the cover of night to protest gentrification in Germany's capital city. According to a German Web site, Mercedes are the most popular targets. The fires have spread to other cities as well. "We have no voice in the way the city is changing," one young German told The Guardian. Others are taking a less violent approach by employing an "uglification strategy"—making a mess of apartment buildings and streets—to deter wealthy residents from moving into certain neighborhoods.
