Looks like Anderson Cooper’s got some clout in Hollywood. After the CNN host critiqued a trailer of the new Vince Vaughn film The Dilemma for its pejorative use of the word “gay,” the film’s studio announced that it will pull the scene from the trailer. Universal confirmed with gay-rights organization GLAAD that the offending remark would be edited—even though GLAAD requested as much last month. “The use of the word ‘gay’ in this trailer as a slur is unnecessary and does nothing more than send a message of intolerance,” GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios said in a statement. Cooper has been reporting on the recent rash of gay teen suicides and their connection to representation of the LGBTQ community in media.
