Andy Rubin, the longtime head of Google’s Android business stepped down on Wednesday. The news came as a surprise to many in the industry as Android had experienced strong growth over the years. Sundar Pichai, head of Google Chrome, will take over Android. Android recently moved past Apple as the most used smartphone operating system in the world, driven in large part by its use on Samsung’s smartphones and tablets.
