Rihanna opted for cutouts, Michelle Obama went for the gold, Miley Cyrus bared her midriff—and J.Lo had stains on her pants. See the fashion highs and lows of the week.

Anne Hathaway has been on a roll. First it was the Givenchy Couture dress tothe London premiere of Les Miserables, and then it was a tight black Tom Ford dress in New York with a mile-high slit. (Let it be known too, that both dresses had bat-like capes, a reference not lost on Dark Knight fans). The Tom Ford dress in question came with a pair of knee-high bondage boots that—though they were “vegan” and custom-made for her by the designer himself, looked like they could be a good brace for a torn ACL. (To see how far Hathaway’s come on the red carpet, see her complete style evolution here.)

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without our first lady making several appearances in a nondenominational, seasonally appropriate string of gold dresses. And here, for the “Christmas in Washington” concert at the National Building on Dec. 9, Michelle Obama recycled a Byron Lars dress (first worn in 2010!) with a House of Lavande jeweled belt. (Special props to the kid who’s too cool for school in the front row.)

This dress was one of the highlights of Alexander Wang’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, and Rihanna got it first. At The X Factor’s final episode, she performed in a dress that caused some to speculate that she is angling to oust Kristen Stewart as the face of Balenciaga by sucking up to Wang, its new creative director.

Even Cosette cleans up: at the New York premiere of Les Miserables on Dec. 10, Seyfried looked stunning in a black strapless Alexander McQueen dress and with her hair in a slicked-back braid.

This was pitch-perfect for the occasion: Parker hosted the Nobel Peace Prize Concert at Oslo Spektrum on Dec. 11 with Gerard Butler—wearing a metallic-blue laced Erdem dress.

The family that wears Burberry together … stays together? The Beckham clan (except for Victoria) wore tailored Burberry suits to the opening night of Viva Forever, the new Spice Girls musical, in London on Tuesday.

How a gold dirigible reduced an otherwise lovely look to sartorial purgatory.

It's too bad that J.Lo forgot a napkin at lunch: a perfectly fine outfit was marred by a trio of grease stains around her crotch.

This country star opted for a little too much sparkle at the American Country Music Awards at the Mandalay Bay on Dec. 10.

There was nothing good about the dress Miranda Lambert wore to the American Country Awards: tight, short, and with challenging depth perspective.

Python over-the-knee boots, a bra splayed open in the front, and jeggings with zipper that goes all the way around. What?!
