Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly won over domestic theaters in Ant-Man and the Wasp this weekend, clinching a $76 million debut to easily beat out the competition. The Marvel sequel surpassed the original Ant-Man, which opened to $57 million in 2015. The First Purge, another new release, failed to knock holdovers Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Incredibles 2 out of the top three. The ultra-violent action thriller, which got a headstart on Ant-Man with a July 4th opening, brought in $17 million to claim fourth place. Fallen Kingdom held the No. 2 spot for the third week in a row with $28.6 million, while Incredibles 2 follow close behind with $28.3 million.
