Hundreds of children are being held at a U.S. Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas, in what was formerly a warehouse, the Associated Press reports. More than 1,100 people total are held at the facility, which is divided into sections for unaccompanied children, unaccompanied adults, and parents with children. The children are being kept in cage-like structures, with as many as 20 children per cage, that open into common areas with portable bathrooms. They use foil sheets as blankets. Reporters were allowed to enter the facility Sunday, but were not allowed to speak with people held at the facility or take photos.
